 Counselling Experience

A counsellor is a lot like a doctor. Both are professionals trained to help you stay healthy. A doctor watches over your physical health. A professional counsellor focuses on your spiritual and emotional health. You are going to need to trust this person with your most personal feelings, hopes, dreams and information.

By understanding you and your situation, your counsellor can help you make smarter choices through understanding your responsibilities, and also what God requires of us.

Your counsellor can help you develop a strategy to deal with:

Marriage conflict
Family breakdown
Financial conflict
Feelings of depression
Feelings of detachment
Unresolved resentment
Victims of abuse

Dealing with issues rather than hiding from them will set you free and allow you to begin to gain control of your situation.

Working Together

Galatians 6 Verses 1 & 2 states: "Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

Working together brings results. As such, the results you get from working with a professional counsellor are as much your responsibility as those of the counsellor.

First: Be Honest. You must be honest with yourself, your counsellor and anyone else related to your situation. You can be confident that we do not judge.

Second: Be Realistic. You must be willing to understand the effect of your actions or words on yourself and others. Maintaining your integrity is as important to us as it is to you. The world tells us that 'the truth hurts' but our Lord also teaches that 'the truth will set you free'. John 8, vs 32

Third: Start As Soon As Possible. Problems will not disappear on their own. They only become more deeply rooted.

How can it be possible for people, who feel hopeless, misunderstood, uncared for, to feel connected?

They feel connected when someone comes alongside showing love and concern. They feel connected when someone listens from the heart and to the heart. They feel connected through
a relationship.

Conflict- can come from many sources such as:

Your spouse

A professional counsellor can help you by providing conflict resolution. Conflict resolution is a fancy phrase for a very common problem. Whatever your source of conflict is, the Christian Counselling Centre can help.
